Laurel Edwards

Brisbane born and bred, Laurel Edwards started performing in High School at variety concerts, talent quests, on Channel 7 telethons and with local theatre groups.
After leaving school she landed the hosting position of Channel Nine's Saturday morning children's show, 'OK For Kids' and continued singing with duos and bands throughout South East Queensland and at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In 1992, Laurel began her radio career co-hosting the high rating 4KQ Breakfast program, a role she still enjoys today. "I've been told I'm the longest serving female radio announcer in the same program in Australia. I'm booking into starting the 4KQ Retirement Village. Seriously, I still love it. There are moments where I can't believe I'm actually getting paid to just talk and have fun but don't tell the boss!"
In 1997, Laurel was part of the very first team of presenters of Channel 7's, Great South East program and continues to be an integral part of the high rating show.
In 1993, Laurel met country singer, Troy Cassar-Daley backstage at the Gympie Muster. They were married in 1996 and have two children Clay, 13 and Jem, 10.
Today, Laurel successfully balances her life as radio announcer, TV presenter, wife and mum and occasional singer. "It may appear to be a good balance but as any mum will tell you, it's all smoke and mirrors! But I do love singing with Troy. It's nice to occasionally perform together on stage in front of a live audience instead of around the kitchen table."
