Lauren Porter

"I believe in the power of music and that through music, song, dance and play children can discover the world and the magic it contains."
18 year-old Lauren Porter developed a love of performing at a very young age.
Realising music was a great way to express herself creatively, Lauren began singing at the age of six. Lauren was only seven when she began to learn to play the guitar. She then started acting in school musicals and became passionate about anything creative including song-writing and learning the harmonica.
Lauren was inspired to play music by her mother Kate who both sings and plays the guitar. She remembers many a family celebration spent with an impromptu jam session.
Lauren's bubbly personality and natural skills as a performer caught the eye of Wurrawhy producers after starring in one of the country's biggest performing arts events for Queensland state school students: Creative Generations; alongside some of the state's most talented dancers, performers, singers, and musicians.
On landing her dream job which combines her passion for music, children and acting, Lauren says, "I believe in the power of music and that through music, song, dance and play children can discover the world and the magic it contains".
In addition to her performing role on Wurrawhy, Lauren has also written several original songs for the show.
Lauren is an animal lover. She is a foster carerer for the RSPCA and regularly looks after homeless kittens. "I have a picture of every single one on my wall" she says.
In her spare time Lauren likes to further her passion for musical interests and hopes, one day, to record a few of her own original songs and even go on tour with her newly-formed band.
